Journal moment

OK, so After church the girls and I made some dinner and then I decided to get some bread started. Haley had been chattering the whole way home and all through dinner and into me trying to make bread. I was trying very hard to be good and listen to her stories and be an involved mother. I finally turned to her and told her (very nicely) that I needed her to take a break and be quiet for just a minute so I could concentrate on my recipe.....Well, she was quiet for about 3 seconds and continues right on into the story. BTW, Haley thinks she is so much like Chris. She has no idea how similar she is to me. I vividly remember my parents asking me if I would just shut up for a minute when I was little. It may be hard for you all to believe, but I was a total motor mouth when I was a little girl. ;)
Times like this I totally miss Chris. I love to listen and chat it up with my girlies, but Chris is the king of that. He is soooo good at just listening to them and he is so interested in the things they care about. I am so grateful that my girls have the blessing of having such a wonderful dad just like I did. You know the old saying that women often marry men like their father. Well, we all can agree that Chris and my dad are VERY different! But on this one thing they are similar. I had and still have a great relationship with my dad. I know its because he took the time to listen to me and be there for me. My dad was so good at making all his kids feel like they were the favorite.......anyway, enough rambling.....not that I'm a chatter box or anything. ;)

Gweno, I am sure that no one who knows you will have a hard time believing that you were a motor mouth when you were a little girl. In fact anyone who has known you for more than 30 minutes will know that you still are. Thank you Chris for taking that chatter box out of my home and giving me ear a rest years ago. I tell people I wear hearing aids because of the ear damage I receive from the jet engines while in the Air Force. But truth be known, it was my kids that make me go deaf. So Gwen, like I tell all of my kids, what goes around comes around and it's pay back time. I love you, Dad

BTW your high school friends used to tell me your were quite. I never understood that and found it to be quite humorous. You have definitely cracked the shy shell now! That is actually one of the things I like about you most...you'll be anybodies friend.
