My girls

Anytime Olivia sees one of the YW, she says to me..."mom look, its one of your girls". These Beehives are "MY girls" I LOVE working with them! They're absolutely hilarious! Tonight Koua taught us how to make a Hmong dish. The kitchen was being used at the church, so we made an impromptu trip to my house instead. The girls are so awesome. They can have fun anywhere!

Reverent girls

This is funny now, but I was quite frustrated about 30 minutes ago. My girls are generally fine during Sacrament meeting, but they sometimes (I wont mention names) aren't so reverent during Primary. All three have become bad about running in the building, or if Chris and I stop to talk with someone, the girls may take off and then we have to go find them. Well, lets just say that behavior is unacceptable to me. I think its disrespectful to run in the church. Krista gave me this fantastic idea that was effective for her. Basically, if the girls decide not to be reverent at church, they get to come home and practice. So, today Chris and I brought the girls home after looking for Morgan for 10 minutes in the building, and sat them down and explained the situation to them. I think they got the point and were properly scolded because they have been sitting for a good 10 minutes now and I haven't heard a sound from them.

Morgan's Baptism

Morgan was baptized yesterday. What a wonderful day it was. Here are the start of the pages from the day. I have lots more pictures to go through, so I will finish and post those pages later.

BOWS!!!!

So I was asked by another ward to teach a flower clip and hair bow class at their Super Saturday activity. I love to make bows and girly things, so I'm thrilled to help in another ward. Here are a few bows I put together for the class. I added the pic of Morgan so you can see how cute the rubber band ribbons are on pigtails. Love girl stuff!!

Olivia's picture

Olivia loves to color and draw. This picture is from this afternoon. I was looking at the picture admiring all the letters she put on there, and I noticed the sad face on the picture. I asked her what the picture said. Olivia said it was a picture of her and it said that she was sad she didn't get to play with Hannah and go to her party. Liv calls lots of things a party. Anyway, the background to the pic I think is that yesterday Hannah was supposed to come over, but ended up not being able to. Liv was sad yesterday and asked about it a few times throughout, and apparently thought about it again today. Olivia is totally my most social girl. She loves to play with friends and is just such a fun girl. I was also quite impressed with all the letters she wrote and even more impressed that she was trying to write a story there. Liv just turned 4 in May mind you. Liv has been able to write her name since she was about 3 1/2. I really didn't try to work with her, but in Sacrament meeting, she loved for me to write her name for her, and she would try to copy it. That just became a good way for me to keep her reverent, and ended up that she had the interest and the fine motor skills to do it. I think she is just one smart little cookie. I love that girl! :)

Morgan Moment

This is something that Morgan said a little while ago, but I wanted to put it down so I wouldn't forget it. So here goes.

Our girls love to watch Funniest Home Videos, and on one particular episode, there was a boy who was getting baptized. It wasn't an LDS baptism of course, but I'm not sure what religion it was. Anyway, there was a preacher or whoever waiting in the font for the boy. The boy took a running start and literally did a cannon ball into the font. Chris and I were totally caught off guard, and couldn't control ourselves. We were laughing hysterically. It was so irreverent, but it was so funny! So, a few months later, Morgan (who has an amazing memory) says to me, Mom, I'm not going to jump into the font when I get baptized like that boy did. That wouldn't be a good choice. I'm thinking, YAY, my girl is thinking about good choices etc. I told her that it would be a very bad choice etc and that I was very glad she was not going to do that. She then said, Yeah, I'm just going to keep sticking my toe up out of the water so dad has to keep baptizing me. Ummm yeah, that's Chris's kid!

This morning when I came home from the gym, I went into Morgan's room to check on her and make sure she was getting ready, and this is what I saw. I ran into my room to grab the camera and totally scared Chris. He was all, Whats wrong? Anyway, I go back in there to take a picture and Morgan says to me....If you're going to put that on your internet thing, you can call it...The mommy feeding her babies. (Hmmm, Maybe I'm blogging too much...naaaah) Seriously, this girl cracks me up! I love her!!

Conversations with Liv

This afternoon, Jasen and Jennifer Master's daughter Hannah is coming over to play with Olivia. I was telling Liv about it this morning. Liv has another friend named Hannah in her pre school class, and she was a little confused. I said that Hannah Master was coming over. I said Master is her last name, just like you have two names also....Olivia Hawkins. Liv said...yeah, and Pooh Bear. It was so funny. Chris calls Liv Pooh Bear or Livvy the Pooh all the time, so I guess she considers that another one of her names. I just love the things babes say. :)

So Embarrassing!

Ok, So Becca Laing tagged me. This is going to totally embarrass me, but I'm just not one to step down from a challenge, so here goes... in Becca's words, You are supposed to take pictures of different things immediately--no straightening up or wiping the kids noses or anything.

1. Kitchen sink. Now I "normally" do the dishes first thing in the am, but of course today of all days, I was rushed and seriously just dumped them in the sink for later. See Jeanette, I am NOT that clean! lol
2. The toilet. Hopefully not too bad. All I have to say is, Thank goodness for girls. :) Toilet cleanup is way easier with them.

3. Laundry room. I have no excuses for this room. It usually is a mess. Today is just worse because I'm still finishing all the laundry I should have done last night. I totally sluffed on my laundry and went shopping last night instead. Serves me right I guess.
4. The fridge. Umm yeah, just don't look closely.

5. What are your spouse/kids doing right now. Well, at the time of this pic, they were sitting down for an after school snack. At the present moment, Haley has her music blaring as she does her homework, Morgan is doing the dishes ;), and Liv fell asleep in her room.

6. Your favorite shoes. Ok, I love my gym shoes because they represent staying fit to me. My boots because they're Chris's fav ;). My silver wedges, they're just sexy! My white sandals, I just think they're cute and they're comfy. My flip flops and crocs, I probably wear these the most. They're just great for work an of course shopping. :)

7. Favorite room. Probably the Living room. I just think it's pretty and its the central room in the house.

8. Dream Vacation. Definitely Hawaii. I would LOVE to go back there, but with Chris next time for sure.

9. The closet. Didn't say which one, so I picked the one that was the least embarrassing.

10. Self portrait. I tried this a few times. I am using a loaner camera right now, and I'm a photog retard, so this will have to do.

Birhday Treats

We brought treats to Morgans class today. Her smile was so great! I could just tell that she felt so special. I just love my spunky Mosey!!

I made a purse like this for Olivia a while ago, and Morgan has been asking me to make her one for a while, so I finally got my sewing machine out again and put this one together to give to Morgan on her birthday. I think its sooo cute. These purses are so easy to make. It's made of Capri sun or Kool aid pouches. I know Morgan is going to be thrilled. She has been faithfully bringing home her empty juice pouches from her lunch every day. I hope I can wait until her birthday to give it to her. :)

Birthdays

The birthday week has begun at our house. Morgan turns 8 on Sunday, and of course we are going to take treats into her school class on Friday. On the first day of school, I copied my friend Jennifer Atwood and put some treats in a bag and had them waiting for the girls when they came home. Well, Morgan asked me if she could bring that to her class instead of cupcakes. While I love decorating cupcakes, I didn't mind not doing that this time. So, tonight I put the others to bed and let Morgan stay up with me and help put the bags together. We had fun and I really enjoyed the one on one with my blond beauty. Morgan is so excited for her birthday, and I'm excited for her to have her turn to be the special girl of the week. :)

The new truck :)

OK, I'm jammin off to work so I'll make it quick. Chris has driven this little Toyota pickup our entire marriage. It seriously just wont die. It has been time for a while though to get a new truck for Chris though. The Toyota is just a simple stock truck. No air conditioner, nothing... Finally, it became very inconvenient that Chris couldn't take the girls anywhere if I was gone with the van and he couln't pick up the girls for me because the truck didn't have enough seats. We have been looking for a while but wanted to stay in a budget so we would be able to get a new van and not have two payments. We knew the van was starting to go but had hoped it would go another year at least.....anyway (I ramble way too much) yesterday we found an awesome deal and jumped on it. Chris is so thrilled to finally get a new truck. I'm sooo soooo happy for him. I really don't think I could have driven the old truck with out air for 14 years the way he did. He really deserves a new truck for sure!

Haley and bugs

Chris has always joked that he doesn't need a son because he has Haley. Haley has never been afraid of bugs. Haley is fascinated with insects, animals, science etc. She reads informational or non fiction books like novels. Our Bishop works with mosquito's, and he was over one evening and the topic came up. Haley pounded him with question after question about mosquito's. A few weeks later he brought over a mosquito hatcher thing. Haley was in absolute heaven. She LOVED watching them hatch. NASTY! Anyway, to the purpose of this post. After school today, Haley walked in the door and shoved this in my face and said, "look what I caught mom". She had a butterfly. She and her sisters spent an hour in the back yard catching some more. They named them, made them a home with a flower in it and put sugar water on the flower. It was cute to see them playing together, even if it was with bugs. I love my Haley. I'm curious to see what she career field she chooses.

Our babies are turning 8! :)

The new van :)

Out with the old piece of junk (or at least as soon as I can get it out of my garage.)In with the new van! oh yeah!!

I went to Bakersfield today and got this awesome van. It's a 2004 Toyota Sienna XLE. This baby is LOADED!!! Leather seats, power everything, both sliders and the back hatch. Moon roof, heated front seats, DVD system. Definately this van has way more luxury upgrades than I cared about or really needed, but the price was perfect and it had everything on my list of "necessities" for the new van. Much much better day than yesterday for sure!

I wanted to post one last thing before I called it a night. A few of you commented about the header on my blog with the family picture. I totally can't take any credit for that. Long story short, our awesome friend and MASTER photographer Jasen was walking me through something I was trying to figure out on the blog a while ago and so he had my password for my blog. He surprised me and put that up on the blog. SOOOO NICE! I, like all of you, absolutely LOVE it! Thanks Jasen! You're the best!

Extremely emotional day!

OK, here goes.... So I come home from the gym this morning and Liv's eye looks like this. Not that bad right? I call the Doctor, nothing open so I head to urgent care. There is only one person in the waiting room and I think "YES" we'll get a prescription and be out of here in no time. Yeah right! The Dr. notices that the area around her eye looks too swollen and is concerned that its Periorbital Cellulitis. The scare is that if the infection is deep in her eye it could be serious. The recommend is to go have a CT scan done to make sure thats not the case.
We get to Valley Children's around11:30. (thank goodness I thought to stop home first and pick up snacks, books, and Liv's baby, seriously that saved me) We get called back to the patient area after about 2 hours in the waiting room. By this time Olivia is scared and tired and keeps asking if she can just go home. I get her to sleep and she wakes up feeling a little better.

After another few hours, the doctor comes to look at her eye. By this time, the other eye doesn't look so great either. The Dr. consults with another Dr. and they decide that she should definitely have a CT scan. If the results are positive that the infection is deep she would be admitted with IV antibiotics.

An IV has to be put in to do the CT scan anyway and to do some blood tests. This is about the point that I break down. There is nothing worse than having to see your baby scared and hurting and knowing you cant fix it and that it might have to get worse for her. Liv actually did really good and was very brave.

They do the scan and again Liv does really good. I've pulled myself together at this point. Now we can just wait for the results. Yes, another few hours.

The results come in. NEGATIVE! In fact, Olivia actually has a bad sinus infection. Go figure.
As soon as they said we could go home, Liv was thrilled.

So, you're thinking the day is done right? Not exactly. We get home, and I drop Liv off to Chris, who is getting Haley and Morgan ready for bed at this point. I go back to the van to go get Olivia's prescriptions and the van is DEAD! 3rd time in 2 weeks! (that's a whole other story I don't even have the energy to go into) Chris's game night friends are here and Bry lets me take his car so I don't have to drive Chris's un air conditioned truck. I turn in the prescriptions at Target, and as I'm walking around the store eating a bag of candy,(shoot, after my day, I totally didn't feel guilty! I was chomping away!) I get paged over the store intercom. So, now I'm totally embarrassed, and I make my way back to the pharmacy. They only have one of the prescriptions, the other can be ready tomorrow. There actually is even more, but I will save you all the details. I am so done with today! I am very grateful that my baby is fine. I know it was a huge blessing that my van made it home and that I wasn't stranded somewhere. I am so thankful that Chris has a job and that we are blessed with good insurance. For now, I'm going to bed! I'll have to tackle everything else tomorrow.
